How To: Gallery Wall

For the past couple of months I have been wanting to do something cool with all of our family photos. I have researched and pinned hundred's of Gallery Wall examples and I finally decided to do one of my own.
I hope that these 10 tips will help you create a Gallery Wall of your own:

{1} Collect Frames:
Find frames of any shape or size, big or small. Collect them over a period of time, check sales, and clearance selections. Do not be afraid to mix and match the types of frames, this adds character, and interest.

{2} Collage Frames:
One tip that I love is to find a few Collage Frames that house more than one photo in one frame. These add a lot of photos and typically come in interesting arrangements.

{3} Choose your photos:
Once you have collected your frames choose your photos to fit. Try to select some close ups, some group shots, and don't forget the furry family members :).  Check a few sites such as Shutterfly or any other photo printing company. Look for coupons or sales.

{4}Horizontal or Vertical
Mix and Match the amount of horizontal and vertical photos.

{5} Filters:
When choosing your photos play around with filter options such as Black and White, Full Color, or Sepia.

{6} Color:
Add a pop of color. This can come from the color of the frames or the addition of accessories.

{7} Metallic's:
I love mixing metallic's, it adds depth, and a richness to the gallery wall. Go wild, use gold and silver and maybe even copper.

{8} Texture:
Add textures to add a visual impact to your Gallery Wall. Choose frames that are textured or try printing your photos on canvas or wood.

{9} Accessorize:
The addition of accessories makes all the difference in the world! I used the accessories to break up the photo arrangement and also to fill the awkward spaces that are created by the frames.

{10} Layout:
Layout your design before you hang it. Don't worry yourself over perfect measurements. Just choose one photo as the center mark and work from the center out. Play around with designs until you are happy with the outcome. Don't forget to use accessories to fill in those awkward spaces. I wanted my Gallery Wall to flow a bit more organic, but you can be as free flowing or regimented as you want.
